Research yields little information about Joe V. McDonald. It does, however, show that the young Griffin man was born on May 3, 1921. He was killed in action on October 13, 1943, just a little over a year after he enlisted.

As part of the 3rd Infantry, Private McDonald is buried in the East Griffin Cemetery near what use to be Dundee Mills.
