Hilton Harris
Member of 82nd Airborne Division
Army PFC Hilton Harris was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. Born on January 21, 1922, Harris would be wounded along the front lines in the battle against Germany on June 11, 1944.
Harris would recover from these wounds and again be assigned duty to the relentless battles along the front lines with Germany.
Hilton Harris would be killed in action in Holland on September 27, 1944. Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Harris of Barnesville would receive word of their son’s death.
PFC Harris, along with others, will have a plaque dedicated in his honor in the Historic District of Downtown Griffin. Southern Rivers Energy is the sponsor of his plaque.
